AAI High School National Team Championship

We are excited to be hosting the AAI High School National Gymnastics Championship at Arizona State University again this year. 
This is a meet exclusively for high school seniors! 
These young men have put many years of hard work and dedication into our programs.  This is a great way to thank them and send them off to the next chapter of their lives.
This is open to all high school seniors whether they are part of a team at their high school or part of a club program. 
   
The competition will be held at Arizona State University May 18-19th.

2017 Region 6 Clinic for Levels 4&5 and Excel

Club Administrators should register athletes, via the USA Gymnastics website, prior to December 1st.

The registration fee is $70/athlete.

Space is limited; reservations will close if the event becomes full prior to December 1st.    

 

Each gymnastics club should send one check, payable to "USA Gymnastics Region 6 Men’s", to the regional director.  This check should represent the total cost for all athletes entering the event from each gym.

All athletes that enter into this clinic, as well as their parents, are invited to attend the “Saturday evening with Coach Yin Alvarez” on November 18th, from 5 – 7PM.  This event is being held at Yellow Jackets Gymnastics as part of the Region 6 Clinic for Levels 6 - 10.

 

Please be sure that athlete and coach memberships are current, and that U100 courses, background checks and safety courses have been completed.  Athletes or coaches with expired memberships will not be allowed to participate in this USA Gymnastics sanctioned event.  No exceptions will be made.  

All gymnasts should wear competitive attire; coaches should wear a collared shirt.

A detailed schedule and list of clinicians will be presented prior to the event.

This is a USA Gymnastics sanctioned event.

 

Saturday November 18th:  

4:00 – 5:00:  Regional Meeting (all coaches and judges are welcome)

 

5:00 – 7:00:  Yin Alvarez comes to Region 6

All Region 6 gymnasts who are entered into either the Level 6 - 10 or the Level 4 - 5 clinic, as well as their coaches and parents, are invited to Saturday night. 

All judges are also invited to attend.

 

5:00 – 5:20:  Introduction of Coach Yin Alvarez to the Region and Comments by Coach Alvarez

5:20 – 6:45:  Coaching tips and demonstrations: Peaches and Jams

6:45 – 7:00:  Questions and answers from the region

 

Sunday November 20th:  Workout clinics for Level 6 – 10 athletes

Coach Alvarez will have the opportunity to coach and interact with the athletes.

8:00 – 11:00:  Level 6 athletes

11:30 – 2:30: Level 9 & 10 athletes

3:00 – 6:00:  Level 7 and 8 and JD athletes

 

Event Focus Points:

Floor Exercise:  Routine Composition will be evaluated; skills; sequences and/or routines can be evaluated; general questions regarding floor exercise as well as other events can be addressed

Pommel Horse: Bob Donahue; Head Coach at Sterling Gymnastics Academy

Level 6: Stockli, Spindle and Russian Drills

Level 9 – 10: Flops; single pommel circles

Level 7&8 and JD:  Back loops to spindle; Magyar & Sivado drills and progressions

Still Rings:  Routine Composition will be evaluated; skills, sequences and/or routine evaluation; general questions regarding still rings as well as other events can be addressed

Vault:

Level 6: Anthony Passamonte:  Running Mechanics to Increase Speed/Power

Level 9 – 10: Matt Davis and Springfield College athletes discuss college preparations

Level 7 & 8 and JD: Greg Monaco:  Visualization Techniques

Parallel Bars: Charles Jackson, Boy's progra director at USAGTC; Head coach at Yellow Jackets Gymnastics

Level 6: Giants: spotting, drills and progressions

Level 9 – 10: Healy work and support skills drills and progressions

Level 7&8 and JD: Moy catches and peaches

High Bar: Danilo Gattei, RI state chairman and coach at Aim High Gymnastics

Level 6: Giants; development; training ideas; and progression

Level 9 – 10: Focus on Jams and Adler skills; Other in bar skills such as endos and Weiler kips

Level 7&8 and JD: Vault catch; flying giants; back up-rise hop full to catch
